Norwegian piano player/composer Norvald Dahl (b.1978) teams up with Norway ́s most ́in demand ́ rhythm section for his debut trio recording!

Dahl has been on the Norwegian jazz scene for more than 10 years, but it was not until he started his master ́s degree at the jazz academy of Oslo that he became serious about making recordings of his own music. First he made an avant garde- album with award winning saxophonist Jon Irabagon and bassist Mats Eilertsen. The album was called «Organic Chamber», released on AMP records. Then Dahl figured out that he wanted to start his own label; Blåmann Records, and has since released a solo piano album; «Flying High», a remix/collage of «Flying High» by Inge Weatherhead Breisten called «Flying High collage» and a duo record with drummer Colin Stranahan; «The Vision». In 2020, during the pandemic, Dahl wanted to form a new group, and put together a «dream team» for a new trio! Bassplayer Ingebrigt Håker Flaten and drummer Håkon Mjåset Johansen has worked with some of the giants in jazz, like Chick Corea, Michael Brecker, Mark Turner, Tony Malaby, Jan Garbarek, Arild Andersen and many more. They are well known for their contribution in groups like Atomic, The Thing, Motif, Come Shine, Urban Connection, IHF Chicago Quintet/Sextet, Young Mothers and more.

After a successful tour in 2022, Pandemic Solution decided to aim for a recording, and in January 2024 they went into Fosnavåg Concert Hall to record 8 tracks signed Mr Dahl. The recording is done «old school» in the sence that the band is rigged close together on the stage, no walls or seperate rooms, overdubs, after-corrections what so ever. What you hear is the raw sound of a working band. The feel is ́Live ́ and unpolished, close to what you would expect from a concert. Blåmann Records aims at deliver recording for lovers of natural sound and High end playback. The recordings «Flying High» and «The Vision» have already gained attention in the Hifi communtiy as good reference recording.

We hope you enjoy the ́Afterdog ́ from Pandemic Solution. As a «late arriver» on the jazz scene, we beleive this is a strong trio debut by Mr Dahl.
